Jordan Tour with Turkish Airlines

The group meets at Istanbul Airport at 3:45 AM and flies to Amman on Turkish Airlines flight TK816. On arrival, a private vehicle takes the group from the airport to the hotel. After breakfast, the tour covers Amman, a modern capital once built, like Rome, on seven hills and now spread across nineteen; highlights include the 6,000-seat Roman Theatre, the Citadel on one of the city's hills, the ruins of the Umayyad Palace, and the National Museum, all seen panoramically. The group then visits the ancient city of Jerash, whose remains date back to around 6500 BC and which has survived remarkably intact since Roman times. After the tour, the group transfers to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, the group travels to Madaba, southwest of Amman, known as the city of churches; at St. George's Greek Orthodox Church, they see the Madaba Mosaic Map, believed to be the oldest surviving map of the Holy Land, dating from the 6th century AD. The group then climbs Mount Nebo, about 817 meters above sea level, described in scripture as the place where Moses was shown the Promised Land. The group then travels on to Petra, arriving at the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, the group heads to Petra. Founded by the Nabataeans, considered ancestors of the Arabs, and located in Wadi Musa, Petra is known as one of the Seven Wonders of the World for its rose-colored rock-cut architecture; the tour covers the Treasury, the Palace, the Royal Tombs, the Great Temple, the Colonnaded Street, and the amphitheater. After the tour, the group travels on to Wadi Rum for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, the group takes a two-hour 4x4 desert safari in Wadi Rum, using vehicles suited to the terrain to see red sand dunes, massive rock formations rising to 1,750 meters, and 4,000-year-old rock carvings. After the tour, the group transfers to Amman, where dinner is served and the night is spent at the hotel.

After a very early breakfast at the hotel, the group heads to the airport. The tour ends with a scheduled Turkish Airlines flight to Istanbul.
